We've been making websites for a while, and it seems there are a few issues that come up a lot. So here are some quick tips that will ensure you end up with a better website and get it faster:

  1. Before: Start working on your content now, even before our work gets started. Our side of things will normally take a matter of weeks. But its not unusual to see a project delayed several months because the client is slow in getting content to us. So make a folder for this project on your computer, and start collecting those photos, videos, and documents now.
  2. Before: If you already know your budget, we suggest you let us know up front. Why? Our logic is simply this: We don't want you to be paying for stuff you don't need, and we want to make sure you're not overlooking something you should definitely be considering. Knowing your budget gives us a better understanding of your project and allows us to offer you recommendations tailored to your unique situation.
  3. Before: It seems that while a lot of primary decision makers are very confident in their ability to lead their organization, many are a whole lot less comfortable when it comes to technology. If that describes you, don't worry. Let us know so we can provide a little extra guidance along the way. But most of all, work through the client survey with your team and consider delegating some content-gathering tasks to them.
  4. After: At some point you'll be getting a completed design or website from us that will need your feedback. You'll probably want to ask people around you for their feedback. Everybody will have their own personal take, so don't sweat the small stuff but do pay particular attention to any comments that relate to how well the design meets your visitors' needs as well as your own business goals.

Follow these tips means you'll be taking advantage of the fact that we're experts in our field, while strengthening our efforts on your behalf by giving us key insights into what will most benefit your organization.
